How about sharing some yummy bake sale goodies recipes? I'd like to bring a surprise along with the good old banana-cashew! |

Whenever I am faced with providing a dessert, I break out a canned pie filling and a pre-made, graham cracker pie crust.
I add a little whipped cream to the top, once the filling is in the crust, chill it, the shave a few chocolate curls to go on top of the whipped cream. No baking, but yum to the core! Last edited by Laughingmouse; 04-25-2009 at 04:17 PM. |

It's funny, I just made a banana cream pie the other day and I never thought of it for the bake sale.
If you buy the ready-made graham cracker crust you not only have a time saver, but turn the plastic lid over and you have a nice sturdy cover for your pie. I'm wondering though, how long whipped cream will last on the pie? I can't stand the various cool whips so it must be whipped cream. I put the whipped cream on each piece when I make it at home. Anyone with some good pointers about how to keep it fresh and fluffy? |

I haven't taken anything to bake sales... ever actually, so I don't have a "surefire hit" recipe... BUT I do notice that when I see a bake sale there are usually pretty many whoopie pies and rice krispies treats, so they must be good sellers.

homemade cream filling in the middle. And soooo loaded with calories it's not funny. But individually wrapped, they go really fast at bake sales. |

That said, there should be plenty of recipes for them online. Just compare a few. They should be described as soft chocolate cookies with a creamy filling. You'll be able to tell from the ingredients which recipe should work better for you.

I only had the one and my daughter got the other, so it worked out. |

The pumpkin whoopie pie with vanilla inside, is that kind of a carrot-cake white (cream cheese?) topping? Sounds heavenly. If they really wanted to hook me they'd make a chocolate with a fluffy chocolate mousse kind of filling.

It's actually any kind of filling the cook wants to put in the middle, I think. I've had the "plain" sweet fluffy kind and some have cream cheese, yes. One that I haven't had, unless I've forgotten, is chocolate filling. I've also had red velvet whoopie pies... that would be the cream cheese filling, too.
