Default Does Anyone Have...

....the recipe for that Chex cereal party mix? I and my wife both love this stuff and prefer the homemade to the store bought stuff. I know I've seen the recipe for it at Christmas time but I would like to make some now. Anyone?

Check this out... Apparently it's the recipe taken from a box of Chex back in the 50s:

My sister-in-law used to make it too.

I think hers had pretzels in it.

I've had the kind with pretzels, too... I've made this a few times and it always goes fast.

This recipe also reminds me of those Rice Crispie squares. We used to make a version of those with sunflower seeds, trying to make them healthier...

That's another homemade recipe that has a nostalgia for me.

I have had those with chocolate and peanut butter frostings... to make them a lot less healthier, I guess. Oh, and with chocolate chips, too.

Wow, chex mix. I haven't had that in years. Thanks for the link; I'll be checking it out.

Yep, that link has the standard recipe. We always mix ours up a bit, depending on what stuff we already have around, especially considering we love several kinds of the chex mix that can be found in the stores now. Also, Chex lists the recipe (and the one for the chocolate kind) on all its boxes still.

How in the world can a snack glued together with marshmallow creme, ever be healthy?

I like to mix a little honey with peanut butter to snack on. I guess I needn't feel too guilty about doing it, now!

LOL

If you mean calories, I was very surprised recently to check the calories on marshmallow "fluff" and it's surprisingly low... 20 per tablespoon. If you mean the fact that there's a lot of sugar, I agree. No fat, though.

For a Christmas tradition - we have always had white chocolate chex mix. Pretty sure it is fat free And it's a good thing because I find it very addicting.

Here's a link that looks like something similar:

I could ask my mom for our recipe if you'd like.
