Default Going to the gym

It has been months since the last time that I went into the gym. I’m thinking that this is the right time for me to go there because my current exercise program isn’t working to well.

Are you going to the gym?

Nope, no gym for me... but we bought a treadmill a few years ago so it's not really that I don't have many of the gym benefits with home equipment. Getting me to actually USE them is the problem, however.

I don't go to the gym either, but now that spring is on its way, I'll probably be out and about, walking more than usual, too.

I haven't joined another gym. The costs are pretty high and I really need to spend my money in other ways.

That's something I always looked forward to with spring... getting out and walking with my daughter. But THEN she developed some pretty severe allergies so the outside air in the springtime isn't really the ideal place for us to be... and that's very unfortunate.

We have an exercise room and pool in our condo complex, but we don't use them very much. We're more likely to go for walks, especially in nice weather.

I used to go to the gym, but the cost isn't something that is sustainable and my life needs to center on those things that don't take more from me than is reasonable.

While a gym is nice, brisk walking is more affective, cheaper, and sustainable.

Taking walks carries this nostalgic air with it, that is if you aren't power walking.

I remember older people taking walks after dinner, when we'd visit relatives in other states. The habit has sort of died out with the push to get fit and trim as fast as possible, and with companies drooling over all the money they can make from gear, accessories, and gym memberships.

Walking sounds much nicer than going to the gym.

Walking through a neighborhood that you enjoy is also a plus. You can observe the progress of gardens or landscaping projects, and maybe get to know some of the people and pets too.

I especially like walking through the area when there are seasonal decorations up.

This will no doubt sound really creepy, but I'm within "seeing distance" of a cemetery. It's very peaceful to walk there. I wasn't sure about it when we moved here but now I absolutely adore the area.

Aww, that really stinks. Is there anything that helps prevent her allergies (is she on medicines, etc), or does she just have to suffer through it all?

So far nothing has helped, including things like Claritin. I *do* want to try the new OTC, Zyrtec this spring, so I'm still hopeful. It's extremely expensive, but if it works, it'll be worth it. Besides that, she just suffers.

We even tried local honey. It's supposed to have all the local allergins in it and help sufferers... nope, didn't work in our case.

I've found walking a good way to get ideas for some of my landscaping challenges. It's one thing to read tha ta plant will do well in my hardiness zone, but quite another to see actual proof that it will thrive before I buy it!

This is how we chose some of our landscaping plants, too... and some I would have never thought would do well in this area... but turned out to be some of the best.

Like Taggart, the complex we used to live in had an exercise and billiard room right next to the pool. It was so cool to just walk to the community room and get your exercise there. Now, living by the ocean, I don't belong to the gym, I get my exercise on the beach.
