The same friend and I were heading up Johnson strait another time, when we hit a cross swell about three feet high.Basically this is a speedbump on water. He was steering the boat and I was leaning on the wheelhouse talking to him when we hit the swell.I ended up being tossed about twenty feet sideways over the water.I yelled and he threw the boat into neutral, grabbed a 2" hauser line and jumped in towards me.I yelled 'What are you doing, you can't swim?"
He yelled back"No,but you can,so get us back to the boat!" We managed to get to the side and grabbed on.Then the rope slipped off the boat into the water. The day before another boat that had tied up to us had borrowed the rope and when they brought it back they just looped it around our towpost without tying it on.Just our weight and friction kept us alive.A few lears later he died.I miss him. I've always believed in karma. What goes around comes around. |

Karma, ki jai. I am also a firm believer in Karma.
That's a very good friend that says he can't swim, but you can get the two of you back to the boat once he's gotten to you. Sounds like a friendship of several lives. I think you'll be seeing him again. |
